In a bizarre turn of events from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, a woman eloped with her daughter's fiance just nine days before the wedding. The incident, which occurred in the Madrak police station area, has left the entire community stunned.

The bride-to-be was set to marry on April 16. However, the man she was about to wed vanished — not alone, but with her own mother. Even more shocking, the mother allegedly took off with jewellery worth lakhs and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash that had been saved for the wedding.

According to reports, the would-be groom left home under the pretext of shopping for wedding clothes, only to switch off his phone. When his family couldn’t reach him, they contacted the bride's family — only to discover that the bride's mother was also missing.

It later emerged that the two had been secretly in touch via a mobile phone gifted by the groom to his would-be mother-in-law. No one had suspected the illicit affair brewing between them.

The bride is reportedly in a state of shock. Her father has lodged a police complaint, and a case of missing persons has been registered. Authorities are currently tracking the mobile locations of the missing duo.

The incident has become the talk of the town, with locals and the girl's future in-laws struggling to come to terms with the unexpected betrayal.
