Agra: Jagatguru Paramhansacharya and his disciples were denied entry in the iconic Taj Mahal. Acharya alleged that he was denied entry because he was wearing bhagwa.
Sources said on Wednesday that Jagatguru Paramhansacharya had come to Agra from Aligarh to see the Taj Mahal. "Though he was welcomed by the police personnel and driven to the entry gate of Taj Mahal in a golf cart, the Central Industrial Police Force (CISF) personnel and other employees deployed at the gate prevented him from entry as he was carrying the 'Dharma Danda'," they said.
However, Jagatguru insisted on entering Taj Mahal premises, but the CISF personnel deployed in the security of the monument did not allow him to do so.
Report said that tickets bought by Jagatguru and his disciples were taken back and the money was refunded.
It may be noted that any kind of publicity or even taking any item inside the monument's premises is prohibited.
When contacted Superintendent Archaeologist of Archaeological Survey of India, Agra Circle RK Patel said that a person was prevented from entering Taj Mahal as he was carrying an iron rod with him.
"The security personnel asked him to enter the premises after leaving the rod behind, but he denied," he said. (Inputs from UNI)
