In a shocking incident, a 70-year-old shopkeeper was arrested in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh after a purported video of him molesting a 10-year-old girl surfaced online, police said.
The incident occurred when the girl visited the shop of the accused to buy household goods on Tuesday afternoon.
In the viral video, the elderly man can be seen touching the minor tribal girl indecently.
After a complaint by girl's mother, the police arrested the accused Mohhamad Anwar, resident of Tarapatpur police station village.
Additional SP Sitapur Prakash Kumar said a case was registered against Anwar under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
