Caught red handed in hotel room with female constable, UP DSP demoted to constable

The Uttar Pradesh Police has demoted Unnao Deputy Superintendent Kripa Shankar Kanaujia to the rank of constable, three years after he was caught with a female constable at a hotel.

In July 2021, Kanaujia, serving as Circle Officer (CO) Bighapur, sought leave citing family reasons, but instead of going home, he checked into a hotel in Kanpur, accompanied by a female constable. During this time, he switched off both his private and official mobile numbers.

Concerned about her husband's sudden disappearance, Kanaujia’s wife contacted SP Unnao for assistance. The surveillance team traced Kanaujia's last known mobile activity to the hotel in Kanpur.

Unnao Police swiftly reached the hotel, where they found the CO and the female constable together. CCTV cameras captured their entry, providing crucial evidence for the subsequent investigation.

Following the incident, a report was submitted to the government and it was recommended to revert Kripa Shankar Kanaujia to the rank of constable.

Kanaujia has now been assigned to the 26th Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) battalion in Gorakhpur.
