New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded the team of 'Samrat Prithviraj,' after watching the special screening of the movie here.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah praised Director Chandraprakash Dwivedi and said through this movie, he has revived Prithviraj.

"Prithviraj is a story of a warrior, who has fought for each inch of land from Afghanistan to Delhi. I say with all my heart, Chandraprakash Dwivedi revived Prithviraj through his film. Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar have played their characters really well and they have instilled life in their respective roles," he said.

After the speech, Amit Shah began walking towards the exit but his wife remained standing where she was. Then, he said, "Chaliye Hukum", similar to how the characters in the film addressed each other.

Mrs. Shah blushed when there was a roar of laughter in the audience.

Akshay, Manushi and Dwivedi were present for the special screening.

The Bollywood action hero also took to his Twitter handle and shared a picture with Shah. "A very emotional and proud evening for me. Had the rare honour of having Hon’ble Home Minister @AmitShah ji watch #SamratPrithviraj," said Akshay.

"His appreciation for our film made our efforts successful. Ever so thankful," he wrote in Hindi.

Manushi said in a tweet, "Honoured and humbled to meet the Honourable Home Minister of India Shri Amit Shah Ji and all the other esteemed guests today at the special screening of #SamratPrithviraj in New Delhi. 2 days to go for the release!"

Samrat Prithviraj is based on the glorious life of brave king Prithviraj Chauhan and features Akshay Kumar in the titular role. He plays the legendary warrior, who fought valiantly to protect India from the merciless invader Muhammad of Ghor in this visual spectacle.

It is set to release on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. (Inputs from agencies)
