Delhi Shocker! Odisha woman first raped by two men, then auto driver joined them in crime, dumped her at Sarai Kale Khan

A Nirbhaya-like horror again came to light in Delhi. A 34-year-old woman from Odisha was brutally gang-raped by three individuals in Sarai Kale Khan area in the national capital a month ago. Now, the police have arrested all the three accused.

The horrifying crime took place on the intervening night of October 10 and 11.

A passerby saw the victim, a social worker and researcher at ITO, in bloodstained clothes at Sarai Kale Khan and informed the police.

A police team arrived at the scene and then immediately took her to AIIMS, where doctors confirmed she was bleeding from her genital area, raising suspicions that the assault had occurred elsewhere, and she was later dumped in Sarai Kale Khan.

Police said that she was not able to give any leads after mental health challenges and trauma from the incident.

Then a comprehensive site plan was developed and 700 CCTVs were examined. More than 150 suspected autorickshaws were also checked to nab the accused, and 10 police teams were involved in it, the police officer said.

On October 30, police arrested Prabhu Mahto, auto driver, and subsequently, Pramod Babu, worker at a junk shop, and Shamshul Lagada, beggar, were also identified and arrested on November 2 and November 4, respectively, the officer said.

During interrogation, Pramod said that on October 10, he noticed a woman sitting near the Old Delhi railway station. Shortly after, another accused Mohammad Shamshul, a beggar, alcohol addict and physically handicapped arrived at the scene. Both accused persons conspired to sexually assault the girl, assuming she was mentally unsound and an easy target. Together they forcibly dragged the girl to a deserted area to commit the crime. An auto driver-accused Prabhu Mahto witnessed the incident and joined them with the intent of getting involved in the crime. Subsequently, accused Prabhu Mahto forced the girl in his auto and raped her. Thereafter the accused dumped the victim towards Sarai Kale Khan and drove away," the officer said.
