Dharamshala: Gujarat tourist dies in paragliding accident; 2nd accident at same spot in 6 months (VIDEO)

Dharamshala: A 25 year old tourist from Gujarat died when a paraglider carrying him crashed while taking off, a a senior police officer said.

Satish Rajesh Bhai, resident of Rohit Pass Garima of Ahmedabad, Gujrat and paraglider Pilot Suraj crashed while taking off at Indrunag paragliding take off site on Sunday evening.

Kangra District Additional Superintendent of Police Hitesh Lakhanpal told UNI that due to crashing of the paraglider at the take off site Satish Rajesh Bhai suffered injuries in the head, mouth and other parts of the body and pilot Suraj also suffered injuries. The ASP said when the pilot tried to take off the paraglider could not move in the air and crashed at the take off site last evening.

ASP Lakhanpal said Satish succumbed to his injuries in DRPG medical College.

Pilot Suraj was undergoing treatment at Bala Ji Hospital at Kangra.

This was the second paragliding accident at the same spot in last six months.

Additional Superintendent of Police Kangra said that the police are investigating whether there was any violation of the Paragliding norms which resulted in the accident of a 25 year tourist from Gujarat.

Meanwhile Deputy commissioner Kàngra Haimraj Bairwa said that from Tuesday till September 15, 2025 there will be a complete ban on paragliding for two months in entire Kàngra district.
