Gang War Fallout: Gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria's mother and his bodyguard shot dead in Punjab

Batala (Punjab): Mother of known gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Harjeet Kaur, and his bodyguard Karanveer were shot dead by two unknown bike-borne assailants in Batala district yesterday late night, police said today.

The incident took place near the Kadian toll barrier in Batala. Sources said Karandeep Singh and Harjeet Kaur were going in an SUV. The assailants on a bike fired at their vehicle.

The incident was captured on a CCTV camera. Police sources said Karandeep Singh died on the spot due to bullet injuries, while Harjeet Kaur was seriously injured. She was sent to a hospital in Amritsar, where she died, police said.

DSP City Paramveer Singh said when they reached the spot, they found a dead young man and the woman being seriously injured. She died during treatment in an Amritsar hospital. The DSP did not confirm that she was the mother of gangster Jaggu.

The police have registered a case against unknown assailants and are investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, police said two gangsters of Haryana, Prabhu Dasuwal and Kaushal Chaudhary, associated with the Bambiha gang, have taken responsibility for the incident by posting on social media. The police view the Punjab incident as a fallout of a gang war.
