Pune “boy” turns out to be girl
Thane:The police at the Shanti Nagar police station of Bhiwandi in Thane district had a surprise when a “boy” they had caught during night rounds turned out to be a girl upon reaching the police station.
PSI Deep Bhavar at the police station told the media that it was during the night rounds the police spotted a “boy” aged 19 sleeping on the footpath. They enquired about the boy who gave his name as Sameer Shaikh and the boy was brought to the police station for further enquiry.
During the enquiry the police got a shock of their lives when they came to know that the boy that had caught was infact a girl from Hadapsar of Pune. The police gave the name of the girl as Maya.
The girl had changed her appearance and dressed like a boy and moved around in the powerloom town.
The story narrated by Maya was further more surprising when she informed the police that as her family was finding it too difficult to pull on during the pandemic she set out on a job and came down to Mumbai. After wandering on the streets at Mumbai she landed in Bhiwandi and hit upon an idea just like a typical Bollywood movie.
Having realized that she would be subjected to harassment by anti socials and make her life miserable she decided to declare herself as a boy and lived the life for eight months.
She used to do petty jobs and earn her living and slept at the steps of temples, below the buildings and secluded places and even when she did not not get money get them from some persons.
The police said that a missing person complaint has been lodged by her family members eight months back at the Hadapsar police station at Pune.
The Bhiwandi police got in touch with her family and her family members came down to Bhiwandi and the girl was handed over and restored to them much to the delight of her parents.
The police staff at the Shanti Nagar police station were visually relieved and rejoiced while handing over the girl to her mother both of whom hugged each other for a while before departing.(UNI)
