Hyderabad witnessed a shocking incident at Delhi Public School (DPS), Nacharam, where a 14-year-old Class IX student suffered serious injuries on his private parts during a so-called "birthday bumps" prank by his classmates.
The Incident
According to a complaint filed by the boy's mother, the incident took place on August 29, his birthday. Classmates lifted him, and one student allegedly kneed him in the groin while others applied pressure. The boy soon experienced severe pain, followed by swelling and bleeding in his private parts.
The school staff informed the mother after the student reported the matter to the vice-principal.
Medical Treatment
The injured boy was initially taken to two private hospitals and later shifted to Care Hospital, Banjara Hills. On August 30, doctors confirmed testicular damage and performed surgery. He has been advised complete bed rest for three months, and doctors said his full recovery can only be assessed after that period.
Negligence Alleged
The boy's mother accused both the students and the school staff of negligence, claiming there was a delay in providing timely medical care. She demanded strict action against those responsible.
Police Action
Based on her complaint, Nacharam police registered a case and have begun an investigation.
