A government primary school in Sheopur district, Madhya Pradesh, has received new steel plates after a viral video showed students eating their mid-day meals on newspapers — sparking outrage across social media and drawing criticism from several quarters, including Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.
Following the controversy, BJP leader and former state minister Ramniwas Rawat, along with Sub-Divisional Magistrate Abhishek Mishra, visited the government school in Hullapur under Vijaypur block on Saturday. Both joined the students for lunch, eating the mid-day meal with them to demonstrate improved conditions.
A follow-up video shared online showed the school premises cleaned and decorated, with children now eating comfortably from shiny new stainless steel plates.
