A 40-year-old auto driver, identified as Nantun Jha, died in Chembur, Mumbai, after being given a wrong injection by a man posing as a doctor.
Nantun, a resident of Shivkrupa Chawl, was suffering from a toothache on December 7, 2024. He first visited the Lions Club Charitable Trust clinic, where his damaged tooth was removed. The following day, when his gums became swollen, he returned for help but found the clinic shut.
He then went to Om Clinic, where a man named Ramesh Vishwakarma administered an injection and prescribed a 625 mg tablet to treat bacterial infection.
"After returning home, Nantun complained of breathing difficulties. His family rushed him back to Vishwakarma, who advised them to take him to a bigger hospital," said a police officer. The family later admitted him to Sion Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
When the family questioned Vishwakarma about the treatment, his answers were vague. Further investigation revealed that he was not a registered doctor. He has since been booked by Chunabhatti police for impersonation and negligence.
