A seven-year-old boy has been accused of raping a five-year-old girl in Kanpur Dehat district of Uttar Pradesh.
The shocking incident took place in a village under the Akbarpur police station limits on Sunday night. It came to the light after the girl’s mother filed a complaint on Tuesday.
In her complaint, the victim’s mother claimed that the incident took place when her daughter had gone outside to play.
Based on her complaint, the police lodged an FIR under sections 376 of IPC and section 5/6 of the POCSO Act.
After complaint, police sent both the children to the district hospital for medical examination and the doctor has confirmed rape.
Speaking about the incident, Inspector Satish Singh of the Akbarpur Kotwali police station said that when a child under the age of seven commits an offense, it does not typically fall under the category of a criminal act.
However, further action will be taken in this case only after taking legal opinion, he added.
