A bizarre burglary case was reported in Tamil Nadu. A thief left an apology note promising to return the stolen items in a month after stealing the cash and valuables from a house.

The incident occurred at the home of retired teacher couple in Megnanapuram’s athankulam road.

The couple went to Chennai to visit their son’s house on June 17 and hired a domestic help to regularly clean their house during their absence. When the maid arrived at their house on June 26 evening, she found the door open and alerted the police.

During investigation, the police found that the thief had stolen Rs 60,000 cash, two pairs of gold earrings and silver anklets. But they were startled to found a handwritten apology note left by the thief, written in green ink on an envelope.

The note expressed regret for the theft explaining an urgent need for the money to cover medical expenses for an ailing family member and promised to return the stolen items within a month. The note, written in Tamil, read: "Forgive me. I will return [it] in one month. Someone sick in my house."

The police have launched a thorough investigation into the burglary.

In a similar case, a thief broke into an office in China’s Shanghai and stole a watch and laptop leaving a note behind for the owner, advising an upgrade to their security measures.

The burglar managed to enter the office premises by scaling the building’s outer wall.

Inside, he gathered mobile phones and laptops piling them onto a desk and he left a note under the pile of the digital devices that read:

"Dear boss, I took a wristwatch and a laptop. You should improve your anti-theft system. I did not take all the phones and laptops, fearing it might hurt your business." In a further twist, Sang provided his contact number, adding, "Contact me if you want your laptop and phone back."
