“Taliban in Bihar”: Video of handcuffed villagers in Gaya sparks outrage online

A viral video showing men and women sitting on the ground, handcuffed in Bihar's Gaya district, has sparked outrage online.

Many social media users called it barbaric and compared the act with Taliban.

The villagers, according to police, pelted stones on the officials during demarcation of mining ghats under Belaganj police station in Gaya district. After which the police resorted to mild lathi-charge, used water cannons, and burst tear gas shells to disperse the mob.

Gaya City SP Rakesh Kumar said on Thursday that 10 people were arrested on the charges of causing obstruction in discharge of official duty.

On the other hand, the villagers claimed that they were protesting mining at the sand ghat and sand mafia men thrashed them. They also alleged that administration and sand mafia Punj Sharma's gang are involved.
