A recent road rage incident in Bengaluru involving an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer has taken a new turn with the emergence of CCTV footage, suggesting that the altercation was not one-sided.

On Monday, Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose and his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita Bose, were en route to the airport from the DRDO Colony in CV Raman Nagar. He claimed they were confronted by a biker who allegedly abused them in Kannada and the argument escalated after the man spotted a DRDO sticker on their vehicle and assaulted Wing Commander Bose with a key, causing facial injuries.

A video shared by Bose, showing his injuries, went viral and initially framed the incident as an unprovoked attack possibly motivated by regional bias.

However, a subsequent CCTV footage revealed a more complex scenario. The video shows Wing Commander Bose initiating physical contact by grabbing Kumar's neck and pushing him. His wife is seen attempting to intervene. The confrontation escalated with both parties engaging in physical aggression, including punches and kicks, until bystanders intervened.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Devraj D stated that the incident appears to be a mutual confrontation rather than a one-sided assault. He also clarified that the case is not related to linguistic or regional tensions, countering narratives circulating on social media.

Now, the call centre executive Vikas Kumar, with whom Bose had the altercation, has accused the officer and his wife of assaulting him and allegedly targeting him over his Kannada identity. Following that, the Bengaluru Police has booked the IAF Officer for attempt to murder.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are reviewing multiple CCTV recordings to ascertain the sequence of events and determine appropriate legal actions.
