Two CPI(M) activists held in RSS worker murder case

Kannur: The Special Investigation team (SIT) led by Kannur town Circle inspector Venugopal today arrested two CPI(M) activists in connection with the murder of RSS worker Ramith who was hacked to death by alleged CPI(M) workers of October 12. According to police, they arrested C K Ahad and Nijoy, both from Pinarayi. Nijoy, is DYFI Pinarayi village joint secretary.
 

A total of six people are involved in Ramith murder and investigation is on to nab the remaining accused. Police are tracing the phone call records with the help of cyber department and also monitoring the CCTV records collected from a nearby petrol pump, where the gang attacked Ramith. The arrested youths would be produced before the court tomorrow, police said.

Yesterday, District Police Chief K Sanjay Kumar Gurudin visit Dharmadom Police station and directed for an impartial inquiry into the matter. Meanwhile, Police also arrested three RSS workers Rahul (24),Roopesh (25) and MOP Navajith (24) in connection with the murder of CPI(M) local leader K Mohanan (52) of Pathiriyad on October 14. All the three arrested hail from Pathiriyad and were in judicial remand in Kannur district jail.

Police also arrested four CPI(M) activists, including V Aneesh (35) Koyilode west CPI(M) branch secretary for damaging two houses of BJP workers at Pathiriyad as a retaliation for the murder of CPI(M) Valankichal branch secretary K Mohanan. As many as 16 houses of BJP/RSS sympathisers at Pathiiryad and Padivialyi were damaged by alleged CPI(M) workers. (UNI)
