UP shocker! Neighbor sleeps next to woman in the dark; she mistakes him for her husband and he rapes her

A shocking case of rape has come to light in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh. A woman claimed that a neighbor slept next to her in the bed taking advantage of the darkness and raped her.

The Gopiganj police of Bhadohi district have registered an FIR in the case on the orders of the court.

Quoting the complaint of a 34-year-old married woman, SHO of Gopiganj police station Santosh Kumar Singh said that on the intervening night of July 17/July18, her neighbor Kanchu (32) came to the bed next to her. The woman mistook him for her husband because of the darkness. After some time, the woman got disturbed by his actions. However, before she could unveil the truth, the neighbor had already raped her.

When the woman raised an alarm, her family members and the other neighbours gathered. The woman had held the accused and called the police. Then Kanchu's two brothers also reached the spot and started abusing the woman. When the police arrived, everyone fled the scene.

The woman also alleged that she went to Police station to file a complaint, but she was shooed away. Then she filed a petition in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Sabiha Khatun on August 7, which ordered the police on October 4 to file an FIR against the accused.

Singh said that police is taking appropriate action after registering a case under the relevant sections including rape, criminal intimidation on the orders of the CJM. When the case was registered, the accused and his two brothers fled from the house. Police are searching for them.
