New Delhi: Delhi Police have registered a case against the organizers of the Hindu Mahapanchayat including Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati and others for allegedly giving hate speeches on Sunday.
A case under sections 188/153A of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and a probe is underway, a senior police official said.
The police said a letter seeking permission to hold a Hindu Mahapanchayat was received from Preet Singh, President, Save India Foundation.
The request was denied on the ground that the organizer had no green signal from the land owning agency for organizing the meeting at Burari Ground.
The police said that despite the denial, Preet Singh reached the Burari Ground with his supporters on Sunday.
Around 700-800 people gathered and the invitees delivered speeches. The police tried to maintain the order.
Some speakers including Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati and Suresh Chauhanke promoted disharmony, feelings of enmity, hatred or ill will between two communities in their speeches.
“Only in 2029 or in 2034 or in 2039, a Muslim will become the prime minister. Once a Muslim becomes the prime minister, 50 per cent Hindus will convert, 40 per cent will be killed and the remaining 10 per cent will either live in refugee camps or in other countries in the next 20 years. This will be the future of the Hindus. If you want to avoid this future, then become a man and take up arms,” Narsinghanand is heard saying in a viral video clip.
Also, Suresh Chauhanke said, “Indian Muslims should get the same rights that Hindus are getting in Pakistan. Nothing more than that.”
Notably, Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati was earlier arrested on January 15, in a similar case, by Uttrakhand Police and sent to 14-day judicial custody. He was later released on bail.
A complaint was also received from two journalists of a News Portal who were manhandled and assaulted by a group of people who also tried to snatch their mobile phone and I-card. They were denied medical examination.
Another freelancer journalist alleged that when he along with two other journalists were interviewing a person, he was assaulted. Police intervened and ensured their safety. They were medically examined.
One more FIR was registered against some Twitter handles for circulating content which could incite enmity, hatred and ill-will between groups, said Delhi Police. (Inputs from UNI)
