Ayodhya: Seven persons have been arrested for trying to incite riots by pasting objectionable posters at religious places.
Inspector General Police (IG) Kavindra Pratap Singh on Thursday said that seven persons have been arrested for attempting to incite riots in Ayodhya by putting objectionable posters and religious books in the religious places in Ayodhya on the intervening night of April 26 and 27.
"The police have recovered vehicles and skull caps from the possession of the accused," he said. Singh said that on a tip off by an informer police arrested Mahesh Kumar Mishra, Pratyush Shrivastava, Nitin Kumar, Deepak Kumar Gaur alias Gunjan, Brijesh Pandey, Shatrughan Prajapati and Vimal Kumar near RTO office in Kumarganj area.
The IG said, "During interrogation the accused said that Mahesh Mishra was the main conspirator, who along with his aides, hatched the conspiracy with Brijesh Pandey to protest against the recent violence in Delhi." (UNI)
