A shocking medical emergency unfolded at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital after a one-and-a-half-year-old child accidentally swallowed a plastic toy of Hulk while playing at home.
The toddler soon began crying uncontrollably and showed signs of severe discomfort, including vomiting. Alarmed by his condition, his mother Bhavika noticed that one of his toys was missing. When asked, the child gestured that he had swallowed it, prompting the family to rush him to the hospital without delay.
X-Ray Reveals Intact ‘Hulk’ Toy in Stomach
Doctors conducted an X-ray examination that revealed a startling sight — an entire plastic ‘Hulk’ toy, modeled after the Avengers character, lodged inside the child’s stomach. The toy was fully intact, including its head, arms, and legs, making the procedure especially challenging.
Dr Rakesh Joshi, a member of the medical team, said the primary difficulty lay in extracting such a large object through the narrow valve between the food pipe and the stomach. Initial attempts using an endoscope proved difficult, as the toy repeatedly slipped due to air inside the stomach.
He explained that pulling the toy by its limbs could have caused it to get stuck in the valve, potentially leading to permanent internal damage. After nearly 45 minutes of careful maneuvering, the doctors managed to securely grip the end of the toy and remove it safely without causing injury.
Medical experts warned that had the toy moved further into the intestine, it could have led to a life-threatening intestinal rupture, requiring open surgery. Fortunately, the timely intervention prevented complications.
Following the procedure, Vansh is stable and recovering well. Meanwhile, a video of the delicate extraction procedure has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention and praise for the doctors’ efforts.
