WATCH - Doctors deliver baby amidst strong earthquake tremors at J&K hospital

A major earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale jolted north India including Delhi-NCR, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan on Tuesday evening.

There is no immediate report of any casualty or major damage to property.

The tremors were felt at around 10:17 pm in several cities of north India and its epicenter was at a depth of 156 kilometres in the Afghanistan Hindu Kush region, officials said.

As per GFZ (German Research Centre for Geosciences) the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.6 on the Richter scale.

Twitter is flooded by several videos from different parts of India showing people running out of their homes due to the earthquake.

However, a video of doctors at a hospital performing surgery amid tremors is being appreciated by netizens.

Anantnag district’s Chief Medical Officer shared a video on Twitter and said, ''Emergency LSCS (lower-segment cesarean section) was going on at SDH (Sub District Hospital) Bijbehara, Anantnag, during which strong tremors of earthquake were felt.''

In the viral video, doctors and paramedical staff were seen operating a patient when they felt strong tremors of earthquake which led to power failure for few seconds but they didn't panic and completed the surgery.
