WATCH – NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu sweeps temple floor before offering prayers in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Tribal women leader and former Jharkhand Governor Draudipadi Murmu visited several temples, swept the temple premises and offered prayer at her native place Rairangpur in Mayurbhanja district on Wednesday, a day after she was named as the NDA candidate for the coming Presidential elections.

She also visited Prajapita Brahma Kumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya in Rairangpur and offered prayers.

Draupadi has been provided Z plus security following her nomination as the Presidential candidate.

If Murmu wins the Presidential election she will be the first Odia to occupy the top constitutional post of the country.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is at present in Rome, Union and Minister of state for Tribal Affairs Biseswar Tudu, who is also from Mayurbhanja , and BJP Odisha state unit President Samir Mohanty congratulated Murmu after the BJP named her as the candidate for the top constitutional post of the country.

"Congratulation Smt #DraupadiMurmu on being announced as candidate of NDA for the country’s highest office. I was delighted when Hon’ble PM @Narendramodiji discussed this with me . It is indeed a proud moment for people of #Odisha," Patnaik said

The Chief Minister said, "I am sure Smt Murmu will set a shining example for women empowerment in the country.

Union Minister Tudu said, "NDA has given priority to Mayurbhanj again. Selecting Murmu for the highest constitutional post of the country after electing me as a minister shows the priority of NDA government. We all should cherish the great moment as Odias and as the denizens of Mayurbhanj.”

BJP leader Mohanty said many many congratulations to BJP led NDA candidate for the presidential election. (UNI)
