Bhopal: BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh's erstwhile chief minister Uma Bharati, accompanied by her supporters, staged a fierce protest on Sunday at a local liquor outlet and the former Union minister even hurled a stone at the shop.
Ms Bharti herself posted a related video in social media. “A chain of such stores are present within a labourers' settlement in BHEL's Barkhera Pathani area. A temple and a school are situated in the vicinity. Inebriated individuals misbehave with women and girls. The administration provided hollow assurances for years every time the locals' expressed opposition against the outlets. I cautioned the authorities to shut down the shops in a period not exceeding a week,” she wrote.
In the recent past, Ms Bharti has been demanding prohibition in the state.
Madhya Pradesh's principal-opposition Congress objected to Ms Bharati taking the law into her own hands. (UNI)
