Ghaziabad Police have arrested YouTuber Shikha Metray aka Kuwari Begum following allegations of promoting child sexual abuse.

The police action came after activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj filed an FIR against Shikha Metray.

Bhardwaj accused Metray of sharing explicit content and endorsing methods of sexually abusing infants on her YouTube channel.

Bhardwaj also flagged a video titled "She will say no. Let her" on Metray's channel in her complaint.

Following Bhardwaj's revelations, Metray faced backlash on social media. After which Metray deleted some of her videos and made her social media accounts, including YouTube and Instagram, private.

Metray has been charged under Indian Penal Code Section 293 and Information Technology Act-67B in Ghaziabad for creating sexually explicit content, a criminal offense.

The police have sent her mobile and laptop to the laboratory for forensic investigation.

Metray has uploaded approximately 115 videos on her channel with 2,050 subscribers.

Who is Shikha Metray?

Shikha Metray is a graduate of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Delhi and was working for an e-commerce company in Kalkaji.

Shikha’s father is a school teacher, whereas her mother is an engineer in a company. She is also an online gamer.

She had earlier worked in a private company in Bengaluru. However, during COVID-19 she lost her job and returned back to Ghaziabad. Initially she posted gaming videos in her YouTube channel, but her followers were not increasing.

Then she changed her channel’s name to ‘Kuwari Begum’ and started uploading sexual contents. Her followers then increased to 2000 in just three months.
