Religion and philosophy never fail to intrigue us. The sheer exuberance of faiths always find a resonance in the human soul. In recent times an "applied" version of religion and philosophy, along with other oriental disciplines like Yoga and Meditation, also has been hitting the spot persistently. The very notion that a practicing faith can have its own mundane and working-life benefits has its own share of modern contexts, however, it would be only flawed to assume that it can be restricted to this alone.

A metaphysical curiosity to seek answers of greater truths, that can not be measured by physical sciences, has been a part of human consciousness over a sustainable period of time. They invented Gods and myths, they set forth a set of rituals and commandments and attributed their sanctity to superior powers, they asked questions and sought for answers, and thus a cluster of religions, philosophies and epistemological studies emerged out of it. Comparative religious studies found their advent in them and the world became a thriving conclave of inter-faith dialogues. Many marvelous images, insights and metaphors of absolute truth owe their origin to this churning of minds, across the world.

However, many of you must be wondering, "Why an another English language portal?" Well, there lies an answer in itself. Since this is not supposed to be a “just another English language portal” in the first place. Webdunia has been piling up quality content on religion-philosophy over the years in Hindi and other regional languages. But how about those who can't read Hindi or other regional languages? Well, enormous number of Indian and global readers were left out of this scheme and we had to bring them in the fold. An English portal was the only answer for this and here we are with it.

What we are trying to do with this portal is to carve out a niche for ourselves, a space we feel yet to be exploited to its fullest. We assume that there are many country-miles to cover in the discipline of religion and philosophy and we want to set forth on our journey for the same.

“Athato brahma jijñasa” : thus begins the “Vedanta Sutras”. This very sense of “jijñasa” (inquiry) creates a horizon of visions in the theater of our soul and set us at the center stage of philosophical musings. That very spirit is the presiding deity of this portal and it strives to attain it religiously. This portal is a celebration of the exuberance of faith and inquiry. It alludes to the faiths and fantasies that can be traced in all walks of myths and texts of world religions. At the same time it doesn’t shy away to elaborate upon the utilitarian and applied aspects of religions while striving to acquire an insight into the larger scheme of things. It also indulges in peculiar philosophical discourses of comparative religious studies and a sub-text of it runs as an explanation of Sanatana’s lasting relevance. We intend to make “Webdunia English” as “one-stop” portal for religion, philosophy and epistemological studies, and we have hardly begun yet.
