Mascots doing yoga catches public interest

New Delhi: Mascots wearing cartoon heads alongside yoga practitioners are hitting shopping plazas to build up curiosity and generate interest in yoga among youngsters ahead of 3rd International Yoga Day. For International Yoga Day, which is being observed on June 21, the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN) under the AYUSH ministry, has initiated a yoga awareness drive through mascots and flash mobs (YogMob) to catch the imagination of the the youth. Families and shoppers crowded around to watch the mascots display yoga postures and asanas at malls and public places.
 

The mascots wearing cartoon heads are connecting with families by providing added entertainment and interactivity to drive home the message of yoga for health. The human-size mascots have been running the campaign and spreading the message of International Yoga Day in Delhi NCR, Lucknow and Haryana since June 8. Flash mobs of Yoga Dance called

YogMob being performed at crowded malls are also proving a big draw and arousing curiosity among the spectators. Mascots appeal to individuals because they are memorable, a visual aid that encompasses everything about the campaign message from its ethos to its style . These mascots are leaving a great impact on audience in the blink of an eye, so the viewer does not have to think too much but can take in information at a glance, Ayush ministry sources here said.
