New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to interfere in the arrest of five noted human rights activists in connection with the Bhima Koregaon violence case.
A three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra, said, "We don't want to interfere in the arresting of five human rights activists, accused in the Bhima Koregaon case."

It also declined to  appoint a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for probe into the activists' arrest.
The court extended the house arrest of five accused for four weeks.

It said the accused can approach the sessions court for relief. Five activists, Varavara Rao, Arun Ferreira, Vernon Gonsalves, Sudha Bharadwaj and Gautam Navlakha, are under arrest at their respective homes since August 29.(UNI)
