New Delhi: Model-turned-actor Arjun Rampal, who portrays real-life gangster 'Arun Gawli' in his forthcoming film 'Daddy' says it is a human story about Arun Gawli--the human being rather than the gangster.Talking to UNI, Arjun, who was in town to promote 'Daddy' said, "The film was more about Arun Gawli the human being and not just a film on underworld or about Gawli the gangster, politician, messiah and robinhood." Rampal said the biggest challenge was to convince Gawli, which took 2.
5 years.

'We told him that we don't want to do a propaganda film.We do not want a film about Arun Gawli the robinhood or Arun Gawli -- a politician. We wanted to see the other side of his life which was about Arun Gawli when he was with the BRA gang (Babu, Rama and Arun).
It is about Gawli's relation with his wife, children and friends," the 'Rock On' actor said.

Asked about Gawli's reaction to the biopic, the 44-year-old actor said ,'For him, it was overwhelming because he went through 40 years of his life in two hours. There must be lot of memories that he must have relived and that happens to anybody who watches the movie because you see an arch of character.Gawli is a person who doesn't react immediately.
He is a rational man.

He took two days before calling us to say that there are some things which are not right and he got them corrected," the 'Roy' actor said. The actor said the film was not designed to give instant gratification but dealt with the emotions.'It is an emotional film for me and Ashim who made it, as we see a lot of emotions that he goes through one after another.

Asked if he believes in doing ensemble films like 'Rock on' or solo films like 'Daddy', the actor said,"For me in 16 years of career, thinking of playing ensemble roles or solo ones are egocentric questions where you are only thinking about yourself.
For me, nobody is bigger than the story.

The film is like the puzzle and I am just one piece of that puzzle. There are many people who make the film work around me.So if I am part of that puzzle and if I like the story I would definitely do it.' The actor said he feels very happy for his 16 years of Bollywood journey and the choices that he had made."I am very happy with my career.Today when I end up sitting here with this film 'Daddy' and when I see my kitty of work, I feel very proud," he said.
'Daddy' is an upcoming Indian political crime drama film co-written and directed by Ashim Ahluwalia.

The film stars Arjun Rampal, who also co-wrote the film, portraying gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli. It also stars South Indian actress Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead role. The movie also stars Nishikant Kamat, Anand Ingale, Shrikant Yadav, Vijay Sanap and Abhimanyu Arun in pivotal roles. The movie is slated to release on September 8.(UNI)
