New Delhi: Measuring up to the huge buzz around the film, the Tiger shroff-Disha Patani-starrer 'Baaghi 2' has earned over Rs 25 crore on its opening day, becoming the best opener for 2018, trade sources said on Saturday.
Riding on its 'jaw dropping ' action stunts, a brilliant Star cast and sparkling chemistry between Tiger and Disha, the movie has earned Rs 25.10 crore on its opening day on Friday.
Trade sources said the film has taken one of the best starts ever in the history of recent Bollywood releases.
It had gone past the opening day earnings of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat ', which earned Rs 18 crore.
While trade experts in the film industry had predicted a good opening for the film, the collections of Rs 25 crore exceeded the expectations.
Given the huge response generated by the film, it is well on course towards entering the Rs 100 cr club by the end of the weekend. The film has also opened to an excellent response overseas.
Trade sources said the opening day earning of the film in West Asia is 325000 US dollars, the second highest opening day collections in West Asia after 'Padmaavat '.
The film had a higher opening day collections than 'Jolly LLB 2' and ' Judwaa 2'.
In New Zealand, the film collected 63,458 NZ dollars on the opening day, the second highest opening day figures after 'Padmaavat ', which had earnings of 63,769 NZ dollars on its opening day.
Trade experts attributed the excellent opening taken by the film to its jaw dropping ' action stunts, the strong buzz around the 'Baaghi series', a brilliant Star cast comprising Manoj bajpayee and Randeep hooda among others and, above all, the sparkling chemistry between Tiger shroff and Disha patani which comes across in the trailers and promos of the film.
The film, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, is also the biggest ever release for Tiger with over 3,500 prints released all over the country. (UNI)
