California: Grimes, the Canadian musician and former partner of Elon Musk, has raised concerns over the public exposure of their four year old son, X Æ A-Xii, following his unexpected appearance at the Oval Office.
The incident, which took place on February 11, saw young X Æ A-Xii present as President Donald Trump signed an executive order expanding the powers of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Musk. The child's presence sparked widespread attention, with images of him making faces and interacting with his father circulating online, as per a report by PEOPLE.
Grimes, who said she was unaware of her son's involvement in the public event, addressed the situation on social media after a user commented on X (formerly Twitter) about X Æ A-Xii's behaviour.
"He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I'm glad he was polite. Sigh," she responded.
Speaking to Time Magazine on February 24, she emphasised the importance of consent when it comes to fame, especially for children. "Fame is something you should consent to. Obviously, things will just be what they are. But I would really, really appreciate that. I can only ask, so I'm just asking," she slated.
Grimes and Musk were in a relationship from 2018 to 2021, and share two other children - daughter Exa Dark Sideræl via surrogacy and son Techno Mechanicus. However, their co-parenting dynamic appears increasingly fraught with tensions, particularly given Musk's increasing entanglement in government affairs.
Since then, Grimes has asked for her children's privacy, and publicly distanced herself from him, most recently in January when he made a one-armed gesture that heavily resembled a Nazi salute. "I am not him," she continued. "I will not make a statement every time he does something. I can only send love back into a world that is hurting."
Musk, who has total of nine living children, also shares six children with ex-wife, Justin Wilson and three with Shivon Zilis, an executive at one of his companies.
