New Delhi: The Harry Potter franchise is a universe within a universe with so much content that it is nearly impossible to see it all with all the spells, magical creatures and history. With over ten films in the making, the franchise is now set to get an all new mobile game titled “Harry Potter: Magic Awakened” created by Warner Bros and NetEase.
The game is equal parts card collectable and MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online), free to play online wizard duelling title for Android and iOS platforms.
The game was earlier released in countries like Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan etc where they enjoyed tremendous success, topping local app stores as the No.1 game.
The game is now set to arrive in Europe and North America in 2022. The official press release reads: “Co-developed and co-published by Warner Bros. Games and NetEase Games, 'Harry Potter: Magic Awakened' will launch globally later this year for iOS and Android as the latest title under Portkey Games, the label dedicated to creating new mobile and videogame experiences inspired by the Wizarding World that place the player at the center of their own adventure.” “With 'Harry Potter: Magic Awakened', we have worked jointly with NetEase Games to create the most robust multiplayer experience set in the wizarding world and we are very excited to launch the game globally,” said David Haddad, president of Warner Bros.
Games, in a statement. “'Harry Potter: Magic Awakened' utilizes the best-in-class development and publishing capabilities of both NetEase Games and Warner Bros. Games to bring players a captivating gameplay experience with compelling features, an in-depth collectible card system, and beautifully distinct art style.”
Both companies collaborated on development to ensure an accurate representation of the wizarding world, from early concepting and art design, to the story's plot and overall gameplay system.
In 'Harry Potter: Magic Awakened', you play as a customized witch or wizard avatar as you embark on a new wizarding world adventure. As you might expect, Warner Bros.
Games says you'll run into original Harry Potter characters and new faces alike. As the player progresses through the story, they'll learn spells and charms that they can cast in the form of cards. The player will need to accumulate magical knowledge to master these spells and create unique strategies and card combinations to win duels. Players can unlock additional rewards including in-game currency, cosmetic items and a Niffler card after surpassing each pre-registration tier.
The game has more than 70 spells and summons which players have to learn from while taking classes, visiting the library, or earning rewards.
In addition, players can also explore the Forbidden Forest (solo, multiplayer co-op), play through stories in the Book With No Name, practice Quiddicth, and dance with other players in the Student Ball. (UNI)
