Radhika Apte joins the pro Pakistani actor chorus

New Delhi: Joining the ongoing debate in Bollywood about whether Pakistani artists should be allowed to work in India after the Uri terror attack, Bollywood actress Radhika Apte today said Pakistani actors should come and do films here.

Talking to reporters at the launch of watch brand ‘Swatch’, Radhika said, "I think if a Swiss watch can come to the country and have their own corporate stores, I think a Pakistani actor should come here and do films in India.” There has been a widespread debate in the country over whether Pakistan actors should be allowed to work in India.

Celebrities in Bollywood have been divided over the issue while some supporting the ban on Pakistan actors while others opposing it. Superstar Salman Khan, filmmakers Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Hansal Mehta, Nagesh Kukunoor and veteran actor Om Puri are among those who have opposed the ban while celebrities like Randeep Hooda and Sonali Bendre have backed it.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had asked Pakistani artists like Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan to leave India, failing which it had threatened to stall their film shoots.They also demanded a ban on Pakistani artistes working in the Indian film industry.Indian Motion Pictures’ Artists Association (IMPAA) came out with a resolution to ban all Pakistani artistes and technicians till the relations between the two neighbors normalise.(UNI)
