Chennai:Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth turned 72 today. However, the actor was not in the city and his wife Latha Rajinikanth thanked the large number of fans, who have gathered in front of his Poes Garden residence, braving heavy rains since morning to greet him on the occasion.
Addressing the media, Latha informed that Rajinikanth is not in town and she would like to thank everyone on his behalf. She also requested the fans not to wait for the star in the rains and said Rajini would have definitely met his fans if he was in Chennai.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, Rajini's good friend and actor turned politician Kamal Haasan, Malayalam star Mamooty, PMK President and Rajya Sabha Member Dr Anbumani Ramadoss and celebrities took to twitter to greet the actor on his birthday.
Stalin, in a tweet, said "birthday wishes to my good friend and Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth".
"I wish him a long and healthy life", he said. Kamal tweeted "hearty birthday wishes to my good friend Superstar Rajinikanth."
"Wishing you for the continuance of your victorious journey on this special day", Kamal said.
Mamooty, in a tweet, said "Happy Birthday Dear @rajinikanth have a great year ahead.Stay Happy , Healthy & Blessed always ".
He also tweeted in Tamil "nice birthday greetings 'Nanba' (friend)",tagging a photo of the film "Thalapathi", in which both the actors acted as friends.Anbumani also took to twitter to greet the actor and wished him a healthy life for 100 years.(UNI)
