Mumbai: The city police have detained a 26-year-old man from Vadodara, in Gujarat, for allegedly sending a death threat to Bollywood star Salman Khan via a WhatsApp message, sources said here on Monday.

The accused, identified as Mayank Pandya, is currently being interrogated by a police team of Worli police station.

Sources further said that Pandya sent a threatening message to the Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp helpline, stating, “We will enter your house and kill you,” and also threatened to plant a bomb in Salman Khan’s car.

While the message did not mention the Bishnoi gang by name, its tone was reportedly similar to previous threats received by the actor.

The actor resides with his family at Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai's Bandra and is on the radar of Lawrance Bishnoi gang.

This is the fifth such threat given to Khan within two years.

Last year, shots were fired at his house by shooters associated with the Bishnoi gang, following which the actor's security was beefed up.
