Mumbai: After his long absence from Bollywood, due to his incarceration in Yerwada jail in a case related with the 1993 Mumbai blasts, Sanjay Dutt will return to the silver screen with 'Bhoomi', which hits cinema screens today. Helmed by ‘Mary Kom’ director Omung Kumar, ‘Bhoomi’, also starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharad Kelkar and Sidhant Gupta, is a gritty revenge drama involving a father and daughter.

It is an emotional revenge drama dealing with the relationship between a father and daughter. The movie is being released under the banner of T-Series and Legend Studios. In the film, Dutt is essaying role of a a father and his daughter’s role is played by Aditi Rao Hydari. Trade sources say 'Bhoomi ' is among the most anticipated films in Bollywood this year.

Though its release clashes with 'Haseena Parkar ' and 'Newton ', trade experts feel that it is Dutt 's film that will draw the crowd to the theatre. The film’s trailer, released earlier this month, elicited praise from several quarters. Adding to the buzz for the film is Sunny Leone’s item number “Trippy Trippy” that has peaked the curiosity of cinegoers for the film. Ahead of the release of the film, Dutt said it is a universal film and talks about women empowerment. " Although the trailers look gory, the film is for everyone. It is a universal film.

It gives out a good message and is about women empowerment. The film is about many issues that society is championing — Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao; Save The Girl Child; Stop Violence Against Women etc," the actor said. Dutt has said that henceforth, he will play roles that suit his age. ''I will play my age from now on, as they do in Hollywood. I want to do different kinds of cinema.

Now, I can't play the romantic lead. Except if it is a mature love story," he said. Trade sources said that after the release of 'Bhoomi', Dutt will start shooting for 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3'. The third movie in the Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, it will be directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and will see Dutt essaying the role of a gangster. Thereafter, he will play the lead in a thriller love story titled Malang, to be directed by debutant Aarambhh Singh, who assisted Omung on Bhoomi. Next year, Dutt will team up with Omung once again, for a historical titled 'Good Maharaja', a film based on Maharaja Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji, who was the ruler of Nawanagar, a princely state in British India.
