Slow but promising start for Yami Gautam starrer Haq at the box office

The courtroom drama movie which was looped in the real courtroom drama had a slow but promising start pursuit to the intense subject portrayed by filmmaker on the celluloid. The movie opened up with 1.85 crores though the positive word of mouth could replicate in the first weekend.

Set in 1978, Indore Madhya Pradesh the film traces Shah Bano's struggle after divorce with husband. She subsequently Filed a criminal case in Supreme court.After a long seven year battle,the supreme court ruled in Shah Bano's favor to receive alimony in 1985. However the decision was overturned by the then Rajiv Gandhi led Congress government allegedly to appease minority.

In the lead roles, Hashmi steps into the shoes of Mohd. Ahmed Khan, while Gautam portrays Shah Bano Begum, with the teaser highlighting their intense legal battle and powerful face-off inside the courtroom.

Directed by Suparn S. Varma, the film also stars Vartika Singh, Danish Husain, Sheeba Chadha, and Aseem Hattangady in pivotal roles.
