New Delhi:India's daily COVID-19 tally continued to register an upward trend as 93,249 fresh cases were registered in the country during the past 24 hours. As many as 513 people lost their lives during the time.
This is the highest single-day spike registered in the country during 2021 and also the highest in 24 hours since mid-September 2020.
India's active cases count has increased to 6,91,597, accounting for 5.54 per cent of the total infections, while the recovery rate has dropped to 93.14 per cent.
As per the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh
together contribute 81.42 per cent of the new cases.
49K nCOV cases in Maharashtra
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours total of 49,447 fresh cases of COVID-19 were registered across the Maharashtra, this is the highest spike across the state, bringing the total number of infections in the state to 29,53,523.The state also registered 277 more deaths.
Meanwhile, a total of 37,821 patients recovered and were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 24,95,315 across the state.The state's recovery rate currently stands at 84.49 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.88 per cent.
At present there are 4,01,172 active patients across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, they added.
Eight districts of Maharashtra's Marathwada region reported 5,276 novel Coronavirus cases and 82 deaths during the past 24 hours, health authorities told press persons here on Sunday.
The region has been very badly affected due to the pandemic since more than a month.
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Nanded was the worst affected, which recorded the highest number of positive cases ie 1,206 cases and 26 deaths, followed by Aurangabad with 1395 new cases and 21 deaths, Jalna registered 565 new cases and eight deaths,Parbhani had 527 cases and six deaths, Latur 692 cases and six deaths, Beed 434 cases six deaths, Osmanabad had 343 cases and six deaths and Hingoli had 213 cases and a single death.(UNI)
