New Delhi: India registered 2,86,384 new Covid-19 cases and 573 deaths, the Union Health Ministry data said on Thursday.
The overall toll has now climbed to 4,91,700. The total active cases in the country stood at 22,02,472.
The active cases comprise 5.46 per cent of the total infections, while the national recovery rate has decreased to 93.33 per cent. The recovery tally rose to 3,76,77,328 as 3,06,357 people were cured of the disease.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 19.59 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was at 17.75 per cent.
According to the bulletin, 72.21 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.
"India has administered 163.84 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive," Ministry data said.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) will meet on Thursday to discuss easing of restrictions in the national capital in view of declining cases.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the Delhi government will recommend reopening of schools at the meeting.
Haryana on Wednesday extended Covid-related restrictions till February 10. (UNI)
