Covid-19: India reports 37,154 cases, 724 deaths in past 24 hrs

New Delhi:India recorded 37,154 new Covid-19 cases during the past 24 hours, pushing the country's caseload to 3,08,74,376, while the death toll soared to 4,08,764 with 724 more fatalities, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday.
The active cases declined by 3,219 to stand at 4,50,899. It is now 1.46 per cent of the total caseload.
 
The past 24 hours saw 39,649 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 3,00,14,713, which is 97.22 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.32 per cent.
 
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 43,23,17,813 lakh samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Of this, 14,32,343 were tested in the past day.
 
On the vaccination front, 37,73,52,501 people have been administered Covid-19 vaccines, with 12,35,287 being inoculated in the past 24 hours.

Over 38.86 cr Covid-19 vaccine doses provided to states: Health Ministry

More than 38.86 crore (38,86,09,790) Covid-19 vaccine doses have been provided to states and UTs so far, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday.
 
Of this, the total consumption of vaccine doses including wastages is 37,31,88,834 doses, it added.
 
More than 1.54 Cr (1,54,20,956) balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states, UTs and private hospitals to be administered, as per the data.
 
In the new phase of the universalization of the Covid-19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to states and UTs.
