New Delhi:India on Saturday registered 48,698 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 1,183 fatalities in the past 24 hours, pushing the country's active cumulative caseload to 3,01,83,140 and death toll to 3,94,493.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the active cases declined by 17,303 to stand at 5,95,565.
The past 24 hours saw 64,818 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 2,91,93,085, which is 96.72 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.31 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 40,18,11,892 lakh samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Of this, 17,45,809 were tested on Friday.
Till now 31,50,45,926 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccines, with 61,19,169 being inoculated against the virus in the past 24 hours.
Over 1.45 cr Covid vaccine doses still available with states: Health Ministry
More than 1.45 crore (1,45,21,067) balance and unutilized Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union Territories, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Saturday.
A total of 19,10,650 more will be received by them within the next three days, it added.
So far, the Centre has provided 31.17 crore (31,17,01,800) doses to the states. Of this, the total consumption, including wastages stands at 29,04,04,264 doses, as per data available this morning.
