Israel targets mosque sheltering displaced Gazans; 26 killed, 93 others injured

The number of people killed in an Israeli strike on a mosque and school where people were sheltering in central Gaza has reached 26, according to a Health Ministry statement.

Reuters reported that another 93 people had been wounded.

Israel said the Ibn Rushd School and the Shuhada al-Aqsa Mosque were being used by Hamas as control centers.

Hamas has rejected the accusation that it uses mosques, schools or hospitals for military purposes. Neither claim could be independently verified.
