Aurangabad: Thousands of devotees thronged to three 'Shiva Jyotirlingas ' across the Marathwada region since Monday morning on the occasion of 'Shravan Somvar'.
At Ellora in Aurangabad district special arrangements were made for the "darshan of Ghrishneshwar" at the temple about 35 km away from here. Authorities expect around 2 lakh devotees.
The historic Ellora heritage is known for its world famous number 16 'Kailash Cave' near the Ghrishneswar Joytirlinga.
In Beed district, long queues were seen in front of 'Parli-Vaijnath' Jyotirlinga Temple in Parli tehsil from early on the day.
Similar scenes were witnessed at 'Aundha Nagnath', in Hingoli district, the third Jyotirlinga in Marathwada.
'Shivlings' are worshipped on auspicious occasions and special 'poojas' and 'abhisheks' performed.
Heavy security arrangements have been made by police to cope with the extra rush of devotees and avoid any untoward incidents.
The pandemic led to temples being shut during Shravan month shut over the last two years. (UNI)
