Vontimitta (Kadapa Dist.): The Pushpayaga Mahotsavam was held at Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple here on Tuesday evening with great religious pomp and gaiety.

The Pushpayagam began with utmost spiritual fervour, and leaves like Tulsi and Mogali, besides flowers including jasmine, rose, gunneru, sampangi, and other flowers, were offered to the utsava deities of Sri Sita Lakshmana sameta Sri Ramachandra Murty.

Around 2.5 tonnes of flowers were received through donations from the states of Andhra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for this floral festival.

Pushpayagam is performed in Sri Vaishnavite temples, appeasing the deity to protect the devotees from natural disasters and calamities.

It is also considered a sin-free ritual, against any mistakes which occurred during the Brahmotsavams or in daily rituals, either knowingly or unknowingly, by devotees, officers, or archakas.

Temple Deputy EO Natesh Babu, Garden Deputy Director Srinivasulu, Superintendent Hanumanthayya, temple priests and a large number of devotees participated in this program.
