Dhaka: At least 17 people of a wedding party died on Wednesday after lightning struck a boat on the Padma River in Chapainowabgonj’s Shibgonj in Bangladesh, police said.
The incident occurred at around 1200 hrs on at Charpaka, when the wedding guests were heading to an area, known as Paka, from Alamnagar in Narayanpur.
“The deaths of 17 people by lightning are confirmed. Several others were injured in the incident,” a police official said.
"We have recovered 16 bodies and sent them to a hospital. Another 14 people who were injured in the incident are undergoing treatment," a fire official said. (UNI)
