Islamabad:At least three people were killed and 21 others injured when a powerful explosion ripped through a residential area of Lahore city on Wednesday.The location is reported to be near most wanted terrorist's Hafiz Saeed house.
Notably, according to local media reports, the explosion took place near the residence of Lashkar-e-Taiba founder and Jamatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed, who is a UN designated terrorist, responsible for the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
The blast which occurred at around 1100 hrs was so powerful that it was heard from a far distance, triggering panic among the residents.
Lahore Deputy Commissioner Mudassir Riaz Malik, while speaking to reporters from the incident side, confirmed that the injured included women and children. Many of the wounded, who were shifted to a nearby hospital are said to in critical condition.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has ordered an investigation into the incident and sought a report from the IG police.
In a tweet, Mr Buzdar said the provincial government stands with the families of those killed and injured in the Johar Town blast. "Those responsible for the blast should be brought under the law," he averred.(UNI)
