FB user seeks 100mln compensation from SL Police against his arrest

Colombo: A social media user in Sri Lanka operating a Facebook page named 'Gota Go Home' has filed a petition in the island's top court against his arrest and demanded 100 million Sri Lankan Rupees as compensation from the police.

On Friday, the petitoner, Anuruddha Bandara, filed an Fundamental Rights petition seeking a ruling from the Supreme Court stating that his arrest and detention were a violation of his fundamental rights, NewsWire reported.

Earlier this month, the Modara Crime Division had arrested the activist for operating the Facebook page. His sudden disappearance from the public caused a public uproar and the Modara Crime Division then revealed the public his arrest. (UNI)
