Washington: Arianna Delane, 4-year-old niece of George Floyd, was shot at while sleeping in her bed after a gunman opened fire on her home.
According to CBS News, Delane was sleeping in the apartment when someone opened fire just before 3 am on New Year's Day. At the time of the shooting, another child and four adults were also in the apartment.
On January 5, the Houston police said: "The investigation into the senseless shooting of the 4-year-old female at 3322 Yellowstone Boulevard on Saturday morning (January 1) continues to move forward.
"I am aware and have concerns regarding the delayed response time in this incident and have initiated an Internal Affairs investigation. I ask the city to continue to pray for the child’s full recovery and assist in providing information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect or suspects responsible."
CBS News affiliate KHOU quoted a friend of the family as saying that the girl had a punctured lung, punctured liver and three broken ribs, and that she walked for the first time since the shooting on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the police has been criticised for responding after more than four hours.
"Our family has been through so much since the [passing] of George Floyd," said Tiffany Hall, victim's aunt who created a GoFundMe to help with expenses related to the incident.
George Floyd was murdered by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin after he pressed his knee to Floyd's neck, a year and a half ago.
