India says Pakistan's latest video of Jadhav not surprisingly, carries no credibility

New Delhi: India has said the latest propaganda video of Kulbhushan Jadhav released by Pakistan has not come as a surprise and dubbed it as an exercise which carries no credibility. 'Pakistan is simply continuing its practice of putting out coerced statements on video. It is time for them to realize that such propagandistic exercises simply carry no credibility,' External Affairs Ministry official spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in a tweet while responding to the latest video by Pakistan of Mr Jadhav.

In a hard-hitting statement, the MEA spokesperson said, 'the absurdity of a captive under duress certifying his own welfare while mouthing allegations of his captors clearly merits no comment.' The spokesperson said Pakistan is best advised to fulfil its international obligations, whether, it pertains to consular relations or UNSC resolutions 1267 and 1373 on terrorism and to desist from continuing violations of human rights of an Indian national.

Mr Jadhav, a former Indian naval officer who had business interests in Iran, was abducted from there and taken to Pakistan and put under arrest. Pakistani authorities levelled allegations of espionage and terrorism against him and he was convicted by a military court which handed down a death sentence to him. India's repeated requests for consular access have been denied by Islamabad, which allowed his wife and mother to meet him in the Foreign Office from behind a glass screen for nearly 45-minutes on December 25, a meeting which India said was held under an atmosphere of coercion and fear.

In the latest propaganda video, Mr Jadhav is purportedly heard saying that an Indian diplomat had screamed at his mother and she and his wife had come to meet him. India took Mr Jadhav's case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) which stayed the execution of death sentence slapped on him. (UNI)
