Washington: President Donald Trump on Monday indicated that the US would not provide any more aid, saying that Washington had ‘foolishly’ given aid to Pakistan in the last 15 years while the country has been deceitful by providing safe havens to terrorists from Afghanistan."The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!," Trump said in tweet.

His statement follows a report in the New York Times last week that his administration is strongly considering to withhold $255 million in aid to Pakistan. In recent weeks, senior Trump administration officials have repeatedly asked Pakistan to demonstrate that it was sincere in tackling the problem of terrorism. Vice President Mike Pence during a recent visit to Afghanistan, said that President Trump had put “Pakistan on notice”.
